Yesterday was a jobs day. We took the bike to get police clearance (needed to cross borders), bought some last minute bits and pieces and curled up on the sofa with Oscar the rhodesian ridgeback (who stayed all day) to watch a film.
Things moved up a notch in the evening, as I went out to dinner with Phil, Johna and Mieke (brother, sister in law, niece) and Johan and Alena (as a thanks for all the help). I am sure it’s the people who will make this trip and with my family, Johan and Alena I’m off to a good start.
Today we popped into Cape Town for some bike spares, stopping for an excellent lunch in the indian market. However the day proved to be all about the tea time ride:
Tomorrow will be a taking stock day!

Yep, all good Phil, thanks. I was checking on a badly swollen left leg (just above ankle) overnight but it’s fine – gonna have some nice bruising. I came for an adventure not expecting things to go to plan – the divergence just started a little earlier than hoped 🙂
You doing ok?

Oh no!!! Talk about the understated … Ouch! Hope you are not feeling too bruised today and bike news is positive (in which ever way …!). Blessing Andy.

Oucherama Andy, horrid to see – focussing on the pedestrian stepping out & then the cockwomble in the white car just can’t wait… nice to see locals taking care of you. Hope things can be fixed up OK !

Thanks James. Motorcycle Rule no 1: control the things you can control to get the outcome you want, rather than rely on others to manage your risk for you. Clearly his fault in a legal sense but a common risk and i should have ridden more defensively given the possibiltiy of this. Call it a risk refresher course the hard way!!!
